Third World Problems

Share a story about the furthest you’ve ever traveled from home.

When I was seventeen my momma took me to Fiji for nine days. It was the big “rite of passage” adventure offered to me and my siblings in turn after we graduated highschool. I’d been lots of places, but none quite so far. I boarded the plane in Las Angeles, California, landing fourteen hours later in Austria after refueling in Honolulu, Hawaii. My mom met me there and together we took a little bitty plane to Galoa, Fiji’s big island to catch a boat. Overall it took the better part of an entire day to get where I was going. It was an experience, for sure..

  1. I’ve never been to Fiji. Been to Papaette, though only for a day.
